LU ROU FAN
Lu Rou Fan is arguably one of Taiwan’s most iconic comfort food. It is slow braised pork belly chopped into little chunks and ladled over a bowl of white rice.
JIN FENG LU ROU FAN
Jin Feng is touted to be the most famous with crazy crowds although there are many Lu Rou Fan joints all over Taipei.
Don’t understand the hype. It’s quite good but I won’t say it’s that much better than a few others I’ve tried. None of the dishes blew me away.

施家麻油腰花
I decided to try another stall with a Taiwanese friend who told me she would bring me to a local place.
The Lu Rou Fan at this shop was absolutely delicious. The kidney soup was really good as well.
Sesame oil chicken soup was too robust for me in terms of the acrid bitter Chinese rice wine it was cooked in. But the locals loves it and everyone was ordering that.
This is the shop.

MEATBALL AND OIL RICE
From that bustling shop situated in this food street, we then walked a few lanes away to this small stall next to a temple. They are famous for the meat ball and oil rice.
They called it meat ball but it was really like a giant Dumpling with meat inside instead of prawns.
It was quite nice but not really up my alley.
HONG XAO BEEF NOODLE
We the took a cab to a famous Hong Xao Beef Noodle shop. The beef noodle really hits the spot and the soup was delicious.
The Pigs blood was also nice and firm yet extremely smooth and nestled in a spicy broth.
This chain has apparently been brought to Hong Kong.
